Tuberculosis (TB) is once more widespread with an estimated 90 million new case over the past decade.
Spinal Tuberculosis is the most skeletal disease representing about 50% of the cases. The majority of the children with Spinal TB come from Sierra Leone. They stay at Mother’s Hostel, near Korle Bu hospital in Accra, where hopefully they are going to have their operation by Focos’ medical team.
FOCOS (The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine) is a non-profit organization, established in 1998 by Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei. Its mission is to provide affordable orthopedic and spine care to developing countries mainly in Ghana and throughout West Africa.
